Just excellent ! We had a lychee gateau and a pain pistachio. The gateau was beautiful with delicate flavours. The pain pistachio was so fresh and crunchy with a delicious pistachio cream filling. Just like in the best patisseries in France !!! We wanted to get a pain au chocolat before leaving but there were already all gone by 10am!!!

Exploring Melbourne we were able to find the amazing store. I love the place, very cozy and comfortable. I wish I was able to try every one of the desserts you guys have available. I had the Monsieur Green Tea and Black Forest. The flavour of the Green Te was incredible, great combination of texture as well, I think the combination with raspberry and black sesame sable has brought a great balance to it, however for the black forest i felt that more like a chocolate, I felt that still was missing the taste of the cherry, but still was very lovely. They have great customer service. I love the idea that the kitchen is wide open and you are able to see some of the process. I wish you guys were able to open to classes, I would enjoy to have some classes. ☺️

Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, this charming cafe offers a delightful taste of Paris. The almond-pistachio croissant is undeniably one of the finest I’ve had, perfectly flaky with just the right balance of nutty sweetness. Paired with a hot chocolate - served with whipped cream on the side. It’s a light and rich indulgence that’s worth the extra cost. However, there is a noticeable safety concern inside the cafe - a step down (seen in the last photo). Despite the staff’s best efforts to warn patrons, there are moments when the cafe is busy. To mitigate any risks, it would be better for the establishment to clearly mark the step, perhaps with a yellow caution tape, to prevent potential accidents. It’s a small adjustment that would enhance the overall experience, ensuring the atmosphere remains as safe as it is inviting.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Ordered a birthday cake here for a special person two months ago and wanted to leave a positive review! They require a day's notice for an order of one of their amazing cakes. They charged about $5 for the customised message as well. The black forest cake was delicious, they have a nice seating arrangement inside if people wanted to stop by to have a drink and dessert too. Thanks for the fancy cake Le Petit! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

One of our new favourite places in Melbourne to enjoy French patisseries. High quality cakes ( full size and minis), slices and beads. There is seating inside to enjoy the food and excellent coffee and other drinks. Best to order wanting to take away.

Always impressed every time I visit Le Petit Gateau. Every cake is a piece of art with perfectly balanced flavors—rich but never heavy. Consistently high quality and friendly service make this patisserie a go-to spot. #genastar

Really feeling like something sweet and maybe a bit chocolatey so headed to RACV @LePetitGateauMelb for the black forrest: Two layers of chocolate sponge surrounding a vanilla mousse with guinette cherries all enveloped with a dark chocolate mousse, topped with vanilla Chantilly cream pebbles. One fork full and I'm in my happy place. Delicious flavours and textures. There's the soft crack of the thin tempered chocolate surrounding the bottom of the base, the smooth dark chocolate mousse giving a nice brooding flavour, the slightly sour and tart cherries, a slight alcohol kick from the Chantilly cream, the soft light sponge and the creamy vanilla mousse. Each bite is savoured as time stands still. Totally satisfying. #dessert #sweettooth #blackforrest #chocolate #sponge #mousse #cherries #Foodie #melbournefood #melbournecbd

I ordered a customized Black Forest gateau from them (after reading numerous positive reviews) and was impressed by its delicious taste and beautiful customization. Their service was very quick and friendly. But it might not suit those who prefer the traditional version of Black Forest. It’s most likely a mousse

First attempt. Went in early in the morning. The beautiful dessert cabinet was really amazing and impressed me. Had a cute croissant and a hot latte to start my day.

My absolute first and favourite is their Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau. This place opened way back in 2007, during the same time I worked in 140 William St until 2012, so was able to sneak down to grab a tasty sweet treat now and then. It’s now 2025 and I still buy a birthday cake from them for family sometimes- The Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau, ALWAYS, along with a few of the smaller cakes. The Brownie Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau is my most favourite cake in the whole world, that I’ve ever tasted. It is a TASTE SENSATION LIKE NO OTHER! It often consumes my mind, my thoughts, the desire for this delectable delicacy is so overwhelming, my taste buds can almost taste it, those mini explosions of different flavours and textures in every delicious bite, that tastes just absolutely heavenly. YUMMY!! There other cakes are all lovely but I can’t rate this cake high enough. I’d give it 10/5 stars if that were possible. Please don’t ever stop making it and thank you to whoever imagined this creation in their mind and made it real. XO
